“Sometimes, fear is a good thing, a necessary thing - something that pushes us and helps us achieve,” said Patrick J. Ireland, a survivor of the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School. Today, Ireland manages a district office of a financial services company and applies the lessons from that terrifying day in his career and life.
